Health Compare is free, easy to use and impartial, with no sponsored search results. This means that regardless of whether your online search for the shortest wait time or highest quality rating displays an NHS or private healthcare provider, your closest matched results will always appear in a way that is fair and impartial.

For example, many people don’t know they have a legal right to choose an NHS or private hospital for their NHS-funded treatment; or that they also have a right to switch to a different hospital if they’ve been waiting over 18 weeks for their NHS treatment to begin. As hospital waiting times and quality of care can vary greatly across England, we believe it’s important that people understand their rights and know they have these options, to help you make the most of Health Compare and choose well.
Health Compare includes over 700 NHS and private hospitals that offer NHS treatment, plus a range of hospitals offering only NHS or private treatment if that is your preference. You can search and compare all hospitals featured quickly and easily, based on things that matter to you - from waiting times to quality ratings to data on consultant doctors.
Simply enter the treatment you require (if known), your postcode and how far you’d be willing to travel, then tap the search button and browse a selection of NHS and private healthcare providers that match your criteria. Alongside your search results, to make sure you don’t miss out on the most convenient option, the Health Compare algorithm automatically includes the nearest hospital results to your postcode based on popular search criteria, such as the shortest wait time or highest quality rating by England’s health and social care regulator, The Care Quality Commission.

GP Practices
You have a legal right to choose which NHS GP practice to register with, so Health Compare aims to help you choose well.
Whether you’d prefer to register with a GP practice close to your home, children’s school or work, our database of over 6,500 practices across England is designed to help you find a GP practice that works for you and your family.
To search for and compare GP practices near you, simply visit the GP Practices area of Health Compare, enter your preferred postcode and the distance you’re willing to travel then browse GP Practice results that match your criteria. As well as important details such as ratings from the Care Quality Commission and the number of patients registered, you’ll also receive practical information such as the distance from your chosen postcode and the names of GPs working at the practice. You’ll also be able to contact practices you’re interested in and make enquiries.

Online Doctors
Our online doctor area helps you choose well by finding the right support quickly when you need care.
Seeing and speaking with an online doctor can be just like seeing and speaking with a regular GP during a traditional practice appointment, but can take place in the comfort of your own home, workplace, or when you are on-the-go.
As well as medical advice and peace of mind, they can help you access prescriptions, referral letters and sick notes, without the inconvenience of travelling to a surgery or sitting in waiting rooms.

A health insurance policy can provide you with ways to access a faster diagnosis by shortening the time you have to wait to see a consultant of your choice, whilst helping to pay for some or all of the treatment you may need.

If you or your loved one would prefer to continue living at home instead of moving to a dedicated care home, Health Compare can help you choose well by finding the right home care package for you.
